Spin-Orbital-Lattice
correlations are getting known to define transport
properties of the variety of emerging materials. Among
them metal
oxides/chalcogenides/pnictides with structure
and orbital instabilities, exhibit interesting
and useful quantum phenomena, including
superconductivity, excitonic condensation, multiferroicity, thermoelectricity
and others.
The present meeting aims to
discuss various issues in this field and identify basic
parameters to develop new materials with advanced
functional properties. Experimental and theoretical
aproaches for the characterization of spin-orbital
lattice correlations and their manipulation to obtain
desired properties will be discussed. On-going research
activities on the above involving scientists in Italy
and Japan will be presented in the perspective of
strengthening the thematic research collaboration on
advanced materials. Experimental and
theoretical issues will be discussed. Apart from the
advanced characterizations, in-house and synchrotron
radiation spectroscopic properties will be the key
themes.
